Best Earphones for Runners

Interested in buying a new set of earphones, but aren’t sure what to get? Technology has really taken off in the last few years, so we’re here to guide you through what’s out there.

Apple Airpods Pro

These are everywhere! If you’re old enough to remember the early 2000s, when the iPod first came out, people walking around with white cords coming out of their ears became the norm. Apple has taken over once again with the Apple Pro earbud.

When it comes to sound quality, the Apple models are always very highly rated. There are reports that they are a little too small, and therefore can have a looser fit than other brand, so this will be something to consider and try out for yourself.

Regarding price, these can be at the very high end. There are older models that have negligible differences in functionality, so don’t feel like you have to pick the latest generation.

Bose Sport

The other contender that we support for top-of-the-line model is the Bose Sport. These wireless earbuds have a higher mounting outside of the ear, which means they’re a little heavier than most models.

All earbuds have a risk of bouncing out when running. Unless you want something that will suction itself to your head, this is actually a good thing! There has to be a little wiggle room to keep from becoming dangerous. The Bose Sport model does a good job of staying snug while you’re out for a bumpy run.

They’re also easily compatible with Apple or any other phone or device that you want to connect to.

AfterShokz Aeropex

This is perfect headphone for outdoor running. They are bone conducting headphones that leave your ear open so you can still hear other noises. This is especially helpful for hearing cars and other ambient sounds that keep you out of harm’s way!

AfterShokz has been making their headphones lighter and lighter over the years. This latest iteration is extremely light so you barely feel them on a run. We highly recommend this headphone as it is one of our favoirtes!

Beats by Dr. Dre Flex (Bluetooth)

One last model to consider is the Beats by Dr. Dre Flex. Originally known for the huge over-head model, the Beats line has several different new options.

The Flex still works from a Bluetooth connection, but the two earbuds are wired to each other. That means they connect wirelessly, but still hang on a wire that you can lace around your neck. This gives you the freedom of a Bluetooth connection that wont cause wires to run all the way down to your phone. You’ll have the excellent sound quality that comes from this brand, and you’ll also find them at a much more affordable price than the completely wireless earbuds.
